TYPES OF DAMAGE

Your ChipWit can take damage from various hazards as it navigates the world. Understanding the types of damage helps you program your ChipWit to avoid or handle dangerous situations effectively.

Types of Damage #

  1. Running into Obstacles:
    • If your ChipWit runs into walls or objects (like walls) repeatedly, it will take damage. You can even run into good Things repeatedly and take damage. Programming your ChipWit to detect obstacles using sensors (like the If See chip) can help it avoid collisions.
  2. Electrocrab Attacks:
    • Electrocrabs are enemies in the game that can zap your ChipWit with electric shocks. If your ChipWit gets too close to an electrocrab, it will take damage. Additionally, the electrocrabs will peruse your ChipWit! Use sensor chips to detect these enemies and avoid them, or program your ChipWit to engage them cautiously if necessary.
  3. Falling Off Pathways:
    • In some levels, your ChipWit might be navigating narrow pathways that has no railings. If it falls off the edge, it will take maximum damage and it will be respawned from the previous checkpoint for that mission. Be careful when moving near edges and use precise movement programming with sensory chips to prevent accidental falls.
  4. Explosions:
    • In certain levels, there may be explosive obstacles, such as bombs. When your ChipWit gets caught in an explosion, it will take instant unavoidable damage. Program your ChipWit to carefully navigate these obstacles without touching them.

Preventing Damage #

  • Sensors: Program your ChipWit to use sensors (like the If See chip) to detect obstacles, enemies, and dangerous terrain ahead of time.
  • Efficient Movement: Plan your ChipWit’s movements carefully to avoid running into things repeatedly or falling off edges.
  • Avoid Enemies: Use strategies to avoid hazards like Electrocrabs and Bouncers, or handle them strategically when needed.

By being aware of these damage types and programming your ChipWit to navigate around them, you can help it survive longer and complete missions more effectively.
