MISSION OBJECTIVES

Mission Objectives are the goals you must achieve to successfully complete a mission in ChipWits. These objectives vary from mission to mission and can include tasks like collecting specific items, reaching certain points, or surviving for a set period.

What Are Mission Objectives? #

  • Defined Goals: Each mission in ChipWits comes with clearly outlined objectives that your ChipWit must accomplish. These can range from gathering items like Pies and Coffee, avoiding enemies, or scoring a specific number of points.
  • Guidance for Success: The mission objectives give you a clear direction for what you need to do to complete the mission successfully. Failing to meet all the objectives usually means you’ll need to restart and try again.

Mission Overlap (Entry Point into a Mission) #

The Mission Overlap appears after you have selected a mission on the Select a Mission screen, giving you essential information about the mission you’re about to take on.

  • Overview of Objectives: The Mission Overlap lays out all of the mission’s objectives in a clear format, making it easy to understand what is required. For example, the screen might say, “Collect 3 Pies and 3 Coffee.”
  • Mission Details: This screen will also describe the challenges you may face in the mission, such as enemies or obstacles. It serves as a briefing before you begin the task.
  • Play Button: Once you’ve reviewed the objectives and are ready to begin, you can press the Play button on the Mission Overlap screen to enter the mission.

Purpose of Mission Objectives #

  • Progression: Completing mission objectives allows you to advance through the game. Every mission is a new challenge, and the objectives help structure what you need to accomplish.
  • Strategy: The objectives help shape your ChipWit’s strategy. For example, if you need to collect items like Pies and Coffee, you’ll need to program your ChipWit to search for and gather them while avoiding obstacles or enemies.

Example of a Mission Objective #

  • The Mission Overlap might say: “Collect 3 Pies, 3 Coffee, and avoid Electrocrabs.” These are the specific goals you need to meet. If you fail to collect all the items, or your ChipWit is destroyed by an Electrocrab, you will not complete the mission and will need to restart.

Mission objectives give structure and challenge to each level, ensuring that your ChipWit must be programmed and strategized effectively to succeed!
