Using the keyboard is an efficient way to interact with the game, allowing for quick actions and adjustments while working with your ChipWit. Here’s an overview of the basic keyboard controls:
Copying Selected Chips #
- Control + C: To copy a selected chip (or chips) press the Control key and the C key simultaneously. This allows you to copy the desired chip(s) in the Workshop grid.
Selecting multiple Chips in the Workshop Grid #
- Shift Key and left mouse click: Holding down the Shift key on the keyboard and use the mouse to select multiple chips that are in the Workshop grid. Once selected, these chips can be moved, copied, or deleted.
Pasting Copied Chips or IBOL Code #
- Control + V: To paste a copied chip or an IBOL code, press the Control key and the V key simultaneously. This allows you to easily insert copied chips into the Workshop grid.
Skipping Professor Chip’s Dialog #
- Escape Key: Press the Escape key to skip Professor Chip’s dialog or the camera zone-in when starting a mission, letting you jump right into the action.
Starting and Pausing the Program #
- K Key: Once your chips are placed, press the K key to start your ChipWit’s program and set it in motion. Press K again to pause the program.
Restarting the Level #
- R Key: Press the R key on the keyboard to restart the current level at any time, allowing you to quickly reset the mission if needed.
Using the Step Function #
- Period Key: Press the period (.) key to step through your ChipWit’s program one instruction at a time, useful for debugging or testing specific actions.
Dismissing the Workshop Radial Menu #
- Escape Key: When the Workshop Radial Menu is on-screen, press the Escape key to dismiss it.
Changing Connector Directions #
- Arrow Keys: When adjusting Connector directions, use the directional arrow keys on the keyboard to set the flow of signals between chips.
Deleting a Selected Chip #
- Delete Key: Pressing the Delete key on the keyboard will remove the selected Chip from the Workshop.

Junction #
- J Key: Pressing the J key on the keyboard will begin Junction.
This keyboard shortcut provides a faster and more efficient way to access something that is commonly used (in this case, enabling you to Junction between two points with minimal effort).
Boomerang #
- B Key: Pressing the B key on the keyboard will place a Boomerang chip. This is only available on Subpanels.
A keyboard shortcut that allows easy access to the Boomerang function, which sends you to the Main Panel when executing code on a subpanel.
If Feel #
- F Key: Pressing the F key on the keyboard will place an If Feel chip in the Workshop grid. Will require an argument afterwards for what the ChipWit is to feel for.

If See #
- E Key: Pressing the E key on the keyboard will place an If See chip in the Workshop grid. You will still need to add an argument for what you want your ChipWit to look for.

- L Key: Pressing the L key on the keyboard will place Loop chip in the Workshop grid.

Skate #
- K Key: Pressing the k key on the keyboard will place Skate chip in the Workshop grid.

- P Key: Pressing the P key on the keyboard will place Pickup chip in the Workshop grid (you will still have to add an argument for the thing you want your ChipWit to pick up!)

- Z Key: Pressing the Z key on the keyboard will place Zap chip in the Workshop grid. You will still need to pick an argument (a thing to zap!)
