Pencil Shards Challenge
Periodically, we post “ChipWit Challenge” puzzles. These are exclusive, themed puzzles, for our paying customers. The ChipWits community can compete for bragging rights to solve them with the fewest chips, fewest cycles, or highest score.
For our second challenge since our release, we wanted to a Back to School theme, so we went with pencils!
The Challenge Puzzle
The Pencil Shards challenge, is live now through September 8.
In this puzzle, there are six yellow pencil shards scattered randomly around the pencil. Your mission is to design a ChipWit that consistently picks up the shards in the fewest number of cycles possible. As with our other challenges, we recommend trying to solve it once before peeking at the best scores.
Here’s a quick tip: Since there’s randomness on this mission, your ChipWit will be tested with 32 different random seeds (the same ones for all players, to keep it fair). Just when you think you have a solution that grabs all the shards, you may be surprised by a “corner case.” Also, to make the mission more enjoyable, the shards will only ever spawn on the top parts of the pencil, past the metal ring.
Warning: This is a HARD puzzle. Join the discussion in our ChipWits Discord Server to discuss strategies. You may even want to learn a couple of chips that are not featured in the tutorial.
