November Recap
Our 40th Anniversary Challenge, “Happy 40th” was to eat 40 birthday candles in as few cycles as possible. We introduced a 1-bit tileset reminiscent of the original Mac version of the game.
Rumoi had the winning entry, with a median of 266 cycles, which sets a 2 month winning streak! Let’s see if Rumoi can extend the streak in December!

December Challenge
For December, we decided to create a challenge to pick up as many gifts (a new item!) as you can within 2,500 cycles. The mission is played on top of a snowflake. We added some snow VFX to top it off (admittedly Northern Hemisphere centric):
We also decided to make this month’s mission more accessible by limiting the chips to only those found in the tutorial (plus IfHeads).
The gifts are in random locations, which prevents solutions that hardcode paths, which should make for a very different competition than October or November’s challenges.
To test your code fairly, we try 50 random seeds. Your solution must get at least one gift in all 50 random seeds to be valid, but winning solutions will pick up quite a few more than that.
When your solution is accepted, it will be compared against the global leaderboard for highest score given fixed cycles. See if you can set the World Record!
How To Play
To play:
- Install the ChipWits Demo (add us to your Wishlist if you haven’t already!). Make sure you’re on version 0.64 or greater.
- Select the “Snowflake” Challenge from the Puzzle Selection Screen
- See if you can top the leaderboard with the highest score
- Discuss the highest scores in our ChipWits Discord Server
- Post a screenshot of your score to our Discord Server if you believe you have the highest!
The challenge ends on the last day of December.
